This project involved the complete overhaul of the existing entrance area which was completed over several phases. With much of this work carried out during the open season, careful planning and huge efforts from every team member involved enabled it to be delivered with minimal disruption to the parks operation.
To summarise a project with many aspects the works involved demolition, retaining walls, ducting, drainage, in situ concrete slabs and ramps, a complete new tarmac surface of nearly 2000m/2 and of coarse you can’t forget the giraffes!
We are thrilled to have been involved in creating a more welcoming, open space where visitors begin their exciting adventure at Chessington.
A special mention must be made for Tommy who not only supervised this work but had a hand in most of the groundworks on this project as well as Darren. Tommy’s first time being responsible for a project of this size with the time constraints and pressures that came with it made it an even greater achievement.
